Skyline Preseason Polls Rank Rams in Top Three for All Five Spring Sports

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the coaches' preseason polls this morning, with one Rams team predicted to finish first, two teams second and two teams third. All five Skyline spring sports have been ranked in the Top Three finishers this season.
Baseball was predicted to finish 1st in the Conference, which would give them their fourth straight Skyline Championship if this reigns true. The Rams finished last season with a 25-17 record and are currently 6-6 this season and will open up their conference schedule this weekend at home. The Skyline doubleheader is scheduled for Saturday, March 19th against the College of Mount Saint Vincent, with a 9-inning game at Noon followed by a 7-inning game. Farmingdale State will host the Skyline Baseball Championship again for 2011, with second/third and championship rounds taking place from April 29th-May 1st.
The women's lacrosse team was predicted to finish in 2nd place, tied with Ramapo College. Last season the Rams finished 8-7 with a loss in the semifinals of the playoffs to Ramapo. First year head coach, Katie Mollot, and her team are currently 1-1 overall with a home game against Wesleyan on Thursday, March 17th at 4:00 p.m. They open up their conference schedule vs. Bard College on Saturday, March 26th.
Softball was also predicted to finish in 2nd place, behind last year's Conference Champions NYU-Poly, who the Rams fell to in the Championship game. Farmingdale State is currently 4-2 so far this season and are stacked with experience after losing no seniors last year. The team will return on Friday, after playing in the 2011 Rebel Spring Games, and will host four straight home games the week of March 21-26, including their Skyline opener on Saturday against The Sage Colleges.
Coach Tim Tuttle (4th season) and his men's lacrosse team were predicted to finish in third place, after posting a 4-2 conference record in 2010. They stand at 1-2 overall so far this year and have four non-conference games coming up in March to prepare for the conference schedule, which starts on April 2nd against first-year Varsity program Mount Saint Mary College.
The men's tennis team was also predicted to finish in third place, but received one first place vote from one of the coaches after finishing with a 6-1 record in 2010. With five of their top six players from last year returning, the Rams have a good shot at winning their first-ever Skyline Championship. The team opens up their schedule at home on Saturday, March 19th against conference opponent Bard College at 1:00 p.m.
