- Baseball to Host the Skyline Conference Tournament this weekend -

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The regular seasons have wrapped up and now it's time for the spring playoffs. Our spring teams were very successful this year as five of our seven spring teams are competing in the post-season, including baseball, softball, women's lacrosse, men's tennis and outdoor track.

The men's tennis team received the #4 seed for the Conference Tournament in just their first season as a Varsity program. They finished with a 5-6 overall record and faced eventual Champion Mount Saint Mary in the Semifinal Round on Wednesday, April 23rd, falling 5-1. The team is made up of all underclassmen, so they will be looking to advance again next season with a solid squad coming back.

Baseball finished atop the Skyline with a 13-2 conference record, 23-13 overall, being named the #1 seed for the Skyline Conference Playoffs this weekend. They finished tied with St. Joseph's (13-2) in first place, but by virtue of a sweep over Mount Saint Vincent, the Rams were named the top seed. Farmingdale will now have a BYE in the First Round, and will face the winner of today's #5 Mount Saint Mary vs. #4 Old Westbury on Friday, May 2nd at 4:00 p.m. The brand new Rams field was chosen by the Conference athletic directors as the site for the 3-day double-elimination event, so live game stats and results can be found at: http://www.farmingdalesports.com/sports/bsb/2008/skyline/index.

Softball, who has broken nearly every record in program history this season with a 29-9 record and a first-ever appearance in postseason play, finished in the #2 spot for this weekends Softball Tournament, hosted by top-seeded St. Joseph's College. Farmingdale State finished with a 14-2 Skyline record and received a BYE for the First Round game. The Rams will face the winner of today's #6 Mount Saint Vincent vs. #3 Polytechnic game on Friday, May 2nd at 7:00 p.m. at St. Joe's home field - Martha Avenue Field in Bellport, N.Y.

The women's lacrosse team finished as the #4 seed for the Skyline Playoffs, with a 4-10 overall record and defeating Ramapo College last Saturday to secure their spot in postseason play. The Rams are playing host to top-seed Montclair State today at 4:00 p.m and with a win will advance to the Skyline Championship on Saturday, May 3rd.

The men's and women's Outdoor Track team still has two meets left and have many athletes qualified to compete at the ECAC Championships at Springfield College in Springfield, Mass. on May 15th and 16th. Senior Chris Okolie has also qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships at the University of Wisconsin in OshKosh, Wisconsin on May 22nd, 23rd and 24th.

GO RAMS!!!
