NEW YORK | The Skyline Conference and New Jersey Athletic Conference have released their latest editions of the winter weekly reports, with two student-athletes from Farmingdale State College collecting weekly recognition.

The Rams opened their 2022-23 season this past weekend (Fri.-Sat.) over a pair of meets, with a handful of multi-event student-athletes competing at the Art Kadish Elm City Challenge in New Haven, Conn., and the majority of the team taking part in the Youree Spence-Garcia Invitational in Staten Island.

Women's senior student-athlete Emily Russell (Southold, N.Y.) was named the NJAC's Field Athlete of the Week, after winning the pentathlon at the Art Kadish meet with a regional-qualifying score of 2,866 points -- which ranks No. 5 nationally on the NCAA Division III Performance List.

Head coach Daniela Georgieva's teams are now off from competition until the new calendar year, where they'll return to the Ocean Breeze Complex in Staten Island on Jan. 16 (Mon.) for the MLK Tribute Invitational.

FSC's winning streak now sits at five games, after it came from behind to earn a 76-74 victory Wednesday night at Eastern Connecticut State University.

Senior Corey Powell (Valley Stream, N.Y.) was named to the Skyline's weekly honor roll after scoring a team-high 19 points in the triumph, including a 7-of-8 effort at the free-throw line over the crucial last 46 seconds against the Warriors.

Head coach Brendan Twomey's Rams next play host to a pair of Skyline Conference games this week, welcoming St. Joseph's-Long Island for an 8 p.m. tip on Wednesday night before playing host to College of Mount Saint Vincent on CYO Day, Saturday at 1 p.m.

Women's Basketball (3-5, 2-2 Skyline) | Skyline Report

Farmingdale State split its pair of Skyline contests last week, earning a 10-point home victory Tuesday against Old Westbury before dropping a Saturday night decision at Yeshiva.

Head coach Mark Dellecave's side has two Skyline games this week, playing host to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m., before traveling to Manhattanville on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Last Week of SAAC Toys for Tots Drive

The Farmingdale State College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) has been playing host to the U.S. Marine Corps' Toys for Tots drive, which is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year, in Nold Hall. The drive wraps up Monday (Dec. 12), but the committee is seeking a strong push of donations prior to Wednesday's basketball doubleheader, as well as before Saturday's men's basketball game. All new, unwrapped toys are welcome for donation, and the SAAC and Department of Athletics appreciate any and all support in advance.
