FSC Athletics Fall Update #1

NEW YORK | The Skyline Conference released its first edition of Fall 2022 weekly awards Wednesday morning, and three Rams student-athletes garnered weekly recognition in the release.

Women's Tennis (0-1) | Skyline Release

The Rams opened the season Saturday morning against visiting Plattsburgh State, securing two of three doubles matches before falling overall by a 6-3 count.

Senior and reigning conference Player of the Year, Anastasia Hoffman was selected as the Skyline's Player of the Week, after combining with sophomore Lien Collings (Merrick, N.Y.) for a win at No. 1 doubles before dispatching her top-flight singles opponent by identical 6-2 scores.

Head coach Adam Waterhouse's Rams open up Skyline play Wednesday afternoon at 4 p.m. versus visiting Yeshiva, before competing in non-conference play Saturday (Sept. 10) in a noon first serve at Lehman.

Women's Soccer (1-2, 1-0 Skyline) | Skyline Release

The defending Skyline Conference champions suffered a pair of 1-0 setbacks last week on the road to Salisbury (Thu.) and Rowan (Sun.), before opening Skyline Conference action Tuesday afternoon with a resounding home victory versus Yeshiva. Sophomore keeper Chloe Kensell (Monroe, N.Y.) was named the Skyline's Defensive Player of the Week after making a career-high 10 saves on opening day at Salisbury, before turning aside eight shots, including an 85th-minute penalty, Sunday against the Profs.

Head coach Chris Roche's FSC squad is back in action for a pair of matches in Dallas, Pa., this weekend, taking on host and 7th-ranked Misericordia Saturday at 1 p.m., before playing St. Lawrence 24 hours later.

Cross Country Update | Men's Skyline Release | Women's Skyline Release

Head coach Daniela Georgieva's FSC teams opened action Friday afternoon in the Adelphi Invitational at Bethpage State Park, with the men's and women's teams placing 11th and 12th, respectively.

Women's senior Alycia Haynes (Adams Ctr., N.Y.) placed eighth on the 5,000-meter course, and was the fourth NCAA Division III student-athlete to cross the finish line when she completed the loop in a time of 21:07.7.

The cross country teams are back in action Saturday morning (Sept. 10) at the Purchase College Invitational; the women's race gets underway at 9:30 a.m., with the men's contingent taking off at approximately 10:30 a.m.

Golf Update

Head coach Ryan Williams's Rams will commence their season Friday morning (Sept. 9) at the Mount Saint Mary Skyline Invitational at the Powelton Club in Newburgh, N.Y., before competing Sept. 11-12 at The Gauntlet, which takes place at Dauphin Highlands Golf Course in Harrisburg, Pa.

Men's Soccer (0-3) | Skyline Release

The Rams played three matches against top-level competition to open the 2022 campaign, taking on NYU last Thursday before competing against host TCNJ and Rutgers-Newark over the weekend in Ewing, N.J.

After Tuesday's (Sept. 6) match against Eastern (Pa.) University was postponed, head coach Chuck Schimpf's side will next compete Monday (Sept. 12) at Brooklyn College in a 4 p.m. kickoff.

Women's Volleyball (0-1) | Skyline Release

Second-year head coach Kellie Block's Rams started their season Tuesday night against visiting Hunter College, falling in four sets, 3-1.

Farmingdale State rounds out its week of action Thursday night with a 7 p.m. first serve at Drew University.
