FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | With the 2021-22 academic year in the books, the Farmingdale State College Department of Athletics is proud to announce a trio of honors for its student-athletes and teams from the past nine months.

With the Rams' 18 varsity sports all back in full swing, the return of the All-Farmingdale State Team highlights some of the top student-athlete performances in competition. Additionally, one of the Rams' student-athletes has been awarded the George LaRosa Leadership Award. And lastly, the FSC athletics department is proud to showcase that two-thirds of its teams posted grade-point averages of 3.0 or better during the academic year.

All-Farmingdale State Team

As is an annual tradition, the athletics staff has selected its All-Farmingdale State Team. This year's outfit features 10 student-athletes based on their accomplishments during the past academic year, who boast accolades such as All-American, All-Region and year-end major award winners from the Skyline Conference. Those student-athletes are showcased below, in alphabetical order:

Mark Baker, Men's Tennis (Baldwin, N.Y.)

The Rookie and Player of the Year in the Skyline in his first FSC campaign in 2019, Baker repeated as the Player of the Year selection this spring. A three-time first-team all-conference selection in as many seasons thus far at Farmingdale State and the Most Outstanding Player of the 2019 conference championship, he has registered a 29-2 singles record and 29-3 mark in doubles competition in his time with the Rams.

Taylor Berry, Women's Soccer (Glen Head, N.Y.)

A sophomore center back, she was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Region Third Team after leading a FSC backline that posted 10 clean sheets and allowed just two goals in Skyline play. The Skyline's Defensive Player of the Year contributed in the attack as well, scoring three goals (fifth on the team) and collecting eight points (sixth) for a team that won its fifth-consecutive conference title.

Brad Castaldy, Golf (Dix Hills, N.Y.)

The sophomore made the individual cut at the NCAA Championship and was the first Farmingdale State golfer to accomplish this feat since 2009. In the final round of the championship, Castaldy recorded his first-career hole-in-one. He finished the season with a 76.7 scoring average and had seven top-10 finishes in nine events. Castaldy earned the win at The Kiln Intercollegiate after posting career-best rounds of 70 and 71.

Stephen Clancy, Baseball (Mineola, N.Y.)

A senior, Clancy was named the Skyline Conference's Pitcher of the Year, and a third-team All-America selection by D3baseball.com and the ABCA/Rawlings; both organizations selected him as the Region 3 Pitcher of the Year and first-team All-Region 3, as well. He ranks nationally entering conference-championship play in WHIP (0.77, 4th), strikeout-to-walk ratio (10.62, 10th), ERA (1.64, 11th) and victories (9, 16th) – all of which top the Skyline leaderboard. Clancy was an all-region selection in the 2021 campaign, and opponents batted just .186 off the right-hander.

Terrence Haggerty, Men's Lacrosse (Centerport, N.Y.)

The senior attackman repeated as the Skyline Conference's Offensive Player of the Year, after setting the Rams' single-season record for points (93) and leading his side to a second-straight conference finals appearance. He ranks No. 14 in Division III in points per game (5.81), and was a four-time USILA Honorable-Mention All-America selection – including in each of the last two years at FSC.

Alycia Haynes, Track and Field and Cross Country (Adams Ctr., N.Y.)

Haynes competed across all three seasons this year for the Rams, starting with a first-team all-conference performance with her seventh-place finish at the 2021 Skyline Conference Cross Country Championship in October. She later won the conference's Track Athlete of the Year award at the Skyline's Outdoor Track and Field Championship in April, capturing victories in four events (800m, 1500m, 5000m, and as part of the winning 4x400m relay team) to help head coach Daniela Georgieva's Rams to a team title. A total of five of Haynes's performances across the two track and field seasons set top-10 marks all-time at FSC, including her 2:20.01 outdoor time in the 800-meter run at the NJAC Championship in May, shattering the previous mark of 2:22.68 by Sandra Paritti, which was set in 1998. She also set the indoor track and field school record with a 5:19.40 mile run at the Fastrack Last Chance Qualifier in February, besting a record held by Teri Rule (5:23.20) since 1987.

Anastasia Hoffman, Women's Tennis (Massapequa, N.Y.)

Hoffman is a three-time first-team All-Skyline Conference selection, and the 2019 Rookie of the Year added the conference's Player of the Year title to her mantle this fall. She holds an impressive 30-6 career mark in singles play (17-1 in conference matches), as well as a 28-13 ledger in doubles competition (17-2 in Skyline play).

Lyndsey Shaw, Softball (Sayville, N.Y.)

The senior catcher was named First-Team All-Skyline for the second time in as many seasons with the Rams, as well as a NFCA All-Region 3 Second-Team choice after pacing her team to their third-straight conference title and NCAA appearance. She topped the Skyline with a 1.424 OPS, while her slugging percentage (.908) and total bases (99) ranked eighth and 31st in Division III, respectively, from her leadoff spot in the Rams' batting order.

Allie Stanya, Softball (Manorville, N.Y.)

A senior, she was named the Skyline's Pitcher of the Year for the second-consecutive season. After the righty tossed a one-hitter in the conference championship final while carrying a no-hitter into the sixth inning, Stanya became just the third softball player in Skyline history to earn Most Outstanding Player honors for a second time. She wrapped up her season with 15 wins (No. 48 in Division III), a 1.76 ERA (No. 74) and six shutouts (T-22nd).

Jazzmin Terrell, Women's Soccer (W. Babylon, N.Y.)

The freshman attacker was tabbed as a second-team all-region selection by United Soccer Coaches, after garnering the Skyline's Offensive Player and Rookie of the Year awards. She helped the Rams to a conference title after leading her side in goals (13), points (32) and game-winning goals (four), including the winning tally in the 70th minute of the Skyline Final.

George LaRosa Leadership Award

Farmingdale State College senior baseball student-athlete Vincent Napolitano (Bellmore, N.Y.) has been selected as the 2021-22 winner of the George LaRosa Leadership Award.

The winner of this annual award exemplifies great leadership qualities for their team, both on and off the playing fields. The LaRosa Leadership Award winner demonstrates integrity, inspiration and humility, and represents what it truly means to be a student-athlete at Farmingdale State College.

Napolitano was the only baseball student-athlete to play in all 37 games this past season for head coach Keith Osik's Rams, leading his side on the field from his center-field position. FSC's leadoff hitter posted the team's top marks with a .364 batting average, .538 slugging percentage, 31 runs scored, 48 hits, 11 doubles and 10 stolen bases. A first-team All-Skyline Conference selection, Napolitano was also recently named to the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region 3 Third-Team.

"Vinny exemplified great leadership qualities for his team, both on and off the field," said Osik. "He always demonstrates integrity, inspiration and humility, and represents what it truly means to be a student-athlete at Farmingdale State. Knowing George LaRosa from his time as senior vice president of the College, Vinny carries a similar soft-spoken, caring attitude as George did during his time on campus."

Over three-plus seasons at Farmingdale State, the Kellenberg High School alumnus played in 102 contests (93 starts), registering a .309 batting average, 76 runs scored, 39 extra-base hits, 60 RBI and 26 stolen bases.
