FSC Athletics Spring Update #6

New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released its weekly reports on Tuesday, April 19th, including its Player and Rookie of the Week selections, Honor Roll designees and statistical leaders.

Softball Update (17-2, 8-0 Skyline) - Skyline report

The Rams cruised to a doubleheader sweep of Sarah Lawrence last week, picking up 16-0 and 13-0 run-rule wins.

Senior second baseman Julianna Prescia (Oakdale, N.Y.) was named the Skyline Conference Player of the Week. Prescia went 5-for-5 with two triples, a homerun, five runs scored and seven RBI's in the two games. In game one, she was 3-for-3 with a homerun, three runs, two RBI's and a stolen base. In game two, she recorded a pair of triples (tied school record), with two runs scored and a career-best five runs batted in.

Senior pitcher Allie Stanya (Manorville, N.Y.) earned Pitcher of the Week honors as she tossed a complete game shutout in the 13-0 game two victory over Sarah Lawrence. She allowed just two hits with no walks and struck out 12 batters, a mark that ranks eighth all-time for a single game.

Freshman outfielder Jenna Giliberti (Bellmore, N.Y.) was named to the Honor Roll after going 4-for-6 with an inside the park homerun, two RBI's and five runs scored. She was 3-for-4 with the homerun (first career) in game one and followed with a hit and three runs scored in game two.

FSC will play two conference doubleheaders this week: Saturday at Manhattanville @ noon and Sunday vs. St. Joseph's-Brooklyn at 11:00 a.m.

 

Women's Lacrosse Update (6-7, 4-1 Skyline) - Skyline report

Farmingdale State played host to Maritime last week and won in overtime, 13-12.

Sophomore goalkeeper Ronnie Reilly (Oceanside, N.Y.) was tabbed the Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week. She registered her fourth-straight double-digit save effort (and ninth in 13 games) with 13 saves in Wednesday afternoon's 13-12, overtime victory over previously unbeaten Maritime.

Junior attacker Jasmin Brown (Shirley, N.Y.) was named to the Player of the Week Honor Roll after scoring a career-best five goals, including the golden goal 5:15 into extra time. Brown also controlled four draws and scooped up three ground balls in the win.

The women's lacrosse team is off this week but will host an Alumni Game on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. If interested in attending/playing please reach out to Coach Calkins.

 

Baseball Update (14-10, 8-4 Skyline) - Skyline report

After a week off, the FSC baseball team will play six games this week: Thursday vs. John Jay (7-inning DH) @ 4:00 p.m., Saturday at St. Joseph's-Brooklyn (DH) @ 12:00 p.m. and Sunday at Purchase (DH) @ 11:00 a.m.

 

Golf Update

Farmingdale State competed at the Gettysburg Spring Shoot Out this past weekend and placed fourth out of seven teams.

Junior Chris Iguchi (Centereach, N.Y.) led Farmingdale State with a two-day total of 151 (76-75) and came in seventh place individually.

This week, the Rams will host the FSC Spring Invitational at Bethpage State Park Red Course on Saturday and Sunday, April 23-24.

 

Men's Lacrosse Update (8-2, 2-1 Skyline) - Skyline report

In their only game last week, the men's lacrosse team fell to Merchant Marine in conference action, 15-12.

The Rams play two home Skyline games this week: Wednesday vs. Maritime @ 4:00 p.m. and Saturday vs. Mount Saint Vincent @ 1:00 p.m.

 

Men's Tennis Update (4-5, 3-2 Skyline) - Skyline report

Farmingdale State went 1-2 last week, falling to Manhattanville, 5-4, and New Jersey City, 9-0, before earning a victory at Sarah Lawrence, 9-0.

Sophomore Alan Sabovic (Bohemia, N.Y.) was tabbed to the Honor Roll after winning a top-flight doubles match and a pair of singles matches. Sabovic took second singles against Manhattanville, 7-5, 6-1 and recorded wins in the #1 singles and doubles slots at Sarah Lawrence.

This week the Rams play two matches: Wednesday vs. Mount Saint Mary @ 4:30 p.m. and Thursday at Hunter (at USTA Center) @ 4:00 p.m.



Outdoor Track and Field Update

The men's and women's outdoor track & field teams had the week off and will compete at the Skyline Conference Championships on Sunday, April 24th.

The women are looking for their fourth consecutive title, while the men are in search of their third championship in four years.
