- Thomas named Rookie of the Week -


New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the Winter weekly report #12 on Monday, February 21st, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics for men's and women's basketball. 

Men's Basketball Update (18-7, 14-2 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

FSC defeated St. Joseph's-Brooklyn, 73-52, and Old Westbury, 113-80, last week to extend their winning streak to 10 in a row. 

Sophomore guard Corey Powell (Valley Stream, N.Y.) earned a spot on the Player of the Week Honor Roll for the second straight week. Powell averaged 14.5 points and 4.0 assists per game while shooting 50% from the field in the 2-0 week for the Rams.

Freshman guard Kobe Thomas (Hicksville, N.Y.) was named the Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week for the first time in his career. He scored 23 points (11.5 ppg) over just 31 minutes of play for the Rams. Thomas dished out four assists on Tuesday night at St. Joseph's-Brooklyn before posting a perfect 6-of-6 effort from the field, including a 5-of-5 mark beyond the 3-point arc, on his way to a career-high 17 points Saturday afternoon versus Old Westbury.

The men's basketball team has earned the #1 seed for the Skyline Conference playoffs and will host #8 Sarah Lawrence in the quarterfinals on Tuesday, February 22nd at 7:00 p.m.

 

Women's Basketball Update (12-11, 10-10 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

The women's basketball team closed their regular season with a 2-2 Skyline week as they defeated both St. Joseph's-Brooklyn, 74-64, and Sarah Lawrence, 73-61.

Freshman forward Samantha Muller (North Babylon, N.Y.) was tabbed to the Player of the Week honor roll after averaging a double-double over the regular-season-ending four-game stretch (19.0 ppg, 11.3 rpg).

Farmingdale State has claimed the #6 seed for the Skyline Conference playoffs and will travel to #3 Mount Saint Vincent for the First Round on Tuesday, February 22nd at 7:00 p.m.
