- Jenkins and Muller receive major weekly awards -


New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the Winter weekly report #8 on Monday, January 24th, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics for men's and women's basketball. The New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) released their Track, Field and Rookie Athletes of the Week for men's and women's indoor track. 

Indoor Track Update - Women's Weekly Report  Men's Weekly Report

The indoor track teams competed at the NYU Gotham Cup on Friday at the Ocean Breeze Park Track & Field Complex.

Freshman Khadia Jenkins (Farmingdale, N.Y.) earned NJAC Women's Rookie of the Week honors. Jenkins took home her second conference honor in as many weeks. She set personal bests in both the shot put and weight throw and competed in the high jump as well at the NYC Gotham Cup. Her weight throw of 13.25 meters ranks fourth all-time at Farmingdale State and is currently fifth in the NJAC (second among rookies). Jenkins' shot put toss of 11.31 meters is sixth all-time in Rams history and is best among rookies (fourth overall) in the NJAC so far this year. She also produced a high jump mark of 1.55 meters, just off her previous season-best of 1.56 last week. Jenkins currently owns the second-highest jump in the NJAC this season.

FSC next will head back to Ocean Breeze for the University at Albany Great Dane Classic on Friday, January 28th.

 

Women's Basketball Update (8-6, 6-5 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

The women's basketball team earned wins at Purchase, 82-59, and Old Westbury, 74-48, before dropping a home game to Merchant Marine, 64-54.

Freshman forward Samantha Muller (North Babylon, N.Y.) was named Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week. Muller shot 28-of-50 (.560) from the field and 8-of-13 (.615) from beyond the 3-point arc over the Rams' 2-1 week, registering averages of 23.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists. She scored 21-plus points in all three contests, including 25 points (9-of-13 FG; 5-of-6 3FG) Thursday in a win over Old Westbury. On Tuesday versus Purchase, Muller finished one assist shy of a triple-double with 23 points, 10 boards and nine assists.

This week, Farmingdale State will play host to Mount Saint Mary in a Skyline Conference game on Wednesday, January 26th at 7:00 p.m.

 

Men's Basketball Update (10-7, 6-2 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

Farmingdale State fell to Merchant Marine 84-71, but bounced back with a pair of road wins over Mount Saint Vincent, 79-65, and Maritime, 78-70.

Sophomore guard Nick Hurowitz (Mount Sinai, N.Y.) earned a spot on the Honor Roll after averaging 14.7 points and 7.0 rebounds on the week.

The Rams play two conference games this week: Wednesday at Manhattanville @ 7:00 p.m. and Saturday vs. Mount Saint Mary @ 2:00 p.m.
