FSC Athletics Winter Update #3

- Mendoza tabbed Rookie of the Week -


New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the Winter weekly report #3 on Monday, November 29th, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics for men's and women's basketball.

Women's Basketball Update (1-3, 1-2 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

The women's basketball team was defeated 55-50 at Merchant Marine in their lone game last week.

Freshman forward Layla Mendoza (Westhampton Beach, N.Y.) was named Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week. Mendoza tied her career-high with 19 points on 9-of-17 shooting to go with eight rebounds and two blocked shots at Merchant Marine.

Senior guard Anna Zaborowska (East Patchogue, N.Y.) earned a spot on the Honor Roll after recording 17 points and nine rebounds against the Mariners.

The Rams are slated to play three games this week: Monday at CCNY @ 6:00 p.m., Wednesday at Old Westbury (at Farmingdale State) @ 5:00 p.m. and Sunday vs. Yeshiva at noon.

 

Men's Basketball Update (2-4, 0-0 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

In their only game last week, the Rams traveled to non-conference opponent Widener and fell, 77-65.

Sophomore guard Corey Powell (Valley Stream, N.Y.) was named to the Player of the Week Honor Roll after registering a game and career-high 23 points on 8-of-11 shooting (5-for-7 from 3-point range) at Widener.

This week the Rams will host a pair of Skyline Conference games: Wednesday vs. #2 Yeshiva @ 8:00 p.m. and Saturday vs. St. Joseph's-LI @ 1:00 p.m.

 

Indoor Track Update

The FSC indoor track teams kick off the 2021-22 season on Friday with the Fastrack Season Opener at the Ocean Breeze Park Track & Field Complex in Staten Island, N.Y.
