FSC Athletics Fall Update #6

New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released its sixth fall weekly report on Monday, October 11th, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics. 

Women's Tennis Update (8-3, 5-0 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

The women's tennis team won three matches and clinched the #1 seed for the upcoming Skyline Conference playoffs. FSC defeated Skyline opponents, Yeshiva, 8-1, and Mount Saint Mary, 9-0, as well as non-conference opponent Brooklyn, 9-0, last week.

Freshman Anastasia Hoffman (Massapequa, N.Y.) was named the Skyline Conference Player of the Week for the first time this season. She won all three of her top-flight singles and doubles matches during the 3-0 week for the Rams, helping Farmingdale State clinch the #1 seed. Hoffman lost a combined six games over her three doubles matches. She won top-flight singles by identical 6-0 scores against Yeshiva to start the week, before earning a first-set tiebreaker and winning the second set 6-0 against Mount Saint Mary.

Freshman Lien Collings (Merrick, N.Y.) earned Rookie of the Week honors for the third time this season. She won all three of her matches at both #1 doubles and #3 singles, including a three-set super-tiebreaker (10-6) victory in singles play against Mount Saint Mary.

The Rams will close out their regular season schedule this week with two matches: Tuesday vs. Lehman @ 4:30 p.m. and Thursday at St. Joseph's-Long Island @ 5:30 p.m.

 

Men's Golf Update - Skyline Full Report

Farmingdale State came in eighth place after shooting 642 at the Saratoga National Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.

Freshman Liam Miller (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) earned Skyline Rookie of the Week honors after firing a two-day total of 159, including a career-best round of 79 on Saturday.

FSC's Chris Iguchi (Centereach, N.Y.) was named to the Player of the Week honor roll. Iguchi earned a 24th-place finish at the 36-hole Saratoga National Invitational with a score of 154.

The Rams next will host the Skyline Conference Championship on Sunday and Monday, October 17th and 18th, at Bethpage State Park - Blue Course.

 

Women's Soccer Update (7-6, 4-0 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

The women's soccer team played two road games last week and fell to #22 Scranton before defeating Mount Saint Mary, 4-1.

Freshman forward Jazzmin Terrell (West Babylon, N.Y.) was named the Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week for the third time this season. Terrell registered two of FSC's four goals in the victory at Mount Saint Mary.

After falling to Western Connecticut in double overtime on Monday evening, the Rams will play three more road games this week: Wednesday at Sarah Lawrence @ 7:00 p.m., Saturday at Manhattanville @ 4:00 p.m. and Sunday at Williams @ 1:00 p.m.

 

Men's Soccer Update (7-3-1, 5-0-1 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

The men's soccer team went 1-0-1 last week as they tied Mount Saint Mary, 1-1, and defeated Old Westbury, 2-0.

Sophomore goalkeeper Justin Silva (Bellrose, N.Y.) was named to the Player of the Week honor roll after stopping five shots versus Mount Saint Mary and recording his fifth shutout of the season against Old Westbury. Silva holds a conference best 0.54 goals against average.

This week, Farmingdale State will play two Skyline games: Tuesday vs. Manhattanville @ 4:00 p.m. and Saturday at Mount Saint Vincent @ 12:00 p.m.

 

Cross Country Update - Men's Full Report  Women's Full Report

The FSC cross country teams competed at the Golden Eagle Invitational on Sunday morning at Bethpage State Park. The men came in ninth place, while the women finished in 11th.

Sophomore Alycia Haynes (Adams Center, N.Y.) was named to the Runner of the Week honor roll. She led the FSC women with a 16th place finish out of 150 competitors in 21:04.45 (6:47 average mile) at the Golden Eagle Invitational.

Farmingdale State next will compete at the SJC Invitational at Sunken Meadow State Park in Kings Park, N.Y. on Saturday, October 16th.

 

Women's Volleyball Update (8-9, 4-1 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

Farmingdale State defeated conference opponent Mount Saint Vincent, 3-0, but fell to Manhattanville, 3-1, last week.

This week, FSC plays a pair of Skyline matches: Tuesday at St. Joseph's-Brooklyn @ 7:00 p.m. and Thursday vs. St. Joseph's-Long Island @ 7:00 p.m.
