FSC Athletics Spring Update #7

New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released its seventh spring weekly report on Tuesday, May 4th, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics.

Men's Tennis Update (4-1, 4-1 Skyline)

Last week, the FSC men's tennis team earned a pair of wins over Merchant Marine, 8-1, and Yeshiva, 6-3. 

Senior Zachary Baker (Carmel, N.Y.) and freshman Alan Sabovic (Bohemia, N.Y.) were named the Skyline Conference Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively. Baker was undefeated last week at #1 singles and doubles, while Sabovic was 2-0 at both #2 doubles and #3 singles.

The Rams have earned the #2 seed for the Skyline Playoffs and will host third-seeded Merchant Marine for the semifinals on Thursday, May 6th at 4:00 p.m.

 

Men's Lacrosse Update (6-1, 6-1 Skyline)

Farmingdale State earned two wins last week as they defeated Merchant Marine, 17-7, and Manhattanville, 17-10.

Senior attack Terrence Haggerty (Centerport, N.Y.) was named the Skyline Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season. He was also tabbed to the USILA / Dynamic Division III National Team of the Week after scoring 13 goals and recording six assists in the two games last week.

The men's lacrosse team ended the regular season with a 6-1 record and will enter the Skyline Conference playoffs as the #2 seed. They will host #3 Merchant Marine on Wednesday, May 5th at 7:00 p.m.

 

Women's Lacrosse Update (8-0, 8-0 Skyline)

The women's lacrosse team improved to 8-0 and earned their spot in the NCAA Tournament after defeating Merchant Marine in the Skyline Championship game, 11-10, this past weekend.

Sophomore goalkeeper Ashley Perrini (Holbrook, N.Y.) was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Tournament after recording nine saves in both the semifinal and final.

Farmingdale State will open their journey in the NCAA's with a Second Round matchup against Washington & Jefferson on Saturday, May 8th at 4:30 p.m. The game will be played at Washington & Lee University in Lexington, Virginia.

 

Softball Update (12-4, 12-2 Skyline)

In the four-game series with Mount Saint Mary last week, the FSC softball team won all three conference games to improve to 12-2. 

Senior first baseman Jessica Lombardo (Levittown, N.Y.) and sophomore pitcher Allie Stanya (Babylon, N.Y.) were both named to the honor roll. Lombardo batted .600 on the week with six hits, including two doubles and a grand slam. Stanya went 2-0 to improve to 9-1 on the season. She struck out 11 batters in 10 innings on the mound and did not allow an earned run.

The Rams will close out their regular season schedule with four games against Mount Saint Vincent. They will play two games on Saturday at noon (Senior Day) and two games on Sunday at 5:00 p.m.

 

Women's Tennis Update (4-2, 4-2 Skyline)

The women's tennis team fell to Manhattanville, 6-3, in their regular season finale.

Farmingdale State finished the season 4-2 overall and will enter the Conference playoffs as the #3 seed. FSC will return to Purchase, N.Y. and play the second-seeded Valiants on Thursday, May 6th at 11:30 a.m. in the semifinals.

 

Baseball Update (11-11, 10-8 Skyline)

The Farmingdale State baseball team lost a three-game set to Merchant Marine over the weekend to end their season with a 10-8 conference record.

Junior designated hitter Ryan DePalma (Albertson, N.Y.) earned a spot on the Player of the Week honor roll. DePalma hit .500 with two walks, a double, homerun and two runs scored in the series.

 

Men's Golf Update

The men's golf team will compete in the opening round of the 2021 NCAA Division III Championship at the Oglebay Resort and Conference Center in Wheeling, WV on May 11th.

 

Outdoor Track Update

After a week off, the Outdoor Track & Field teams will compete in the NJAC Championships at Ramapo College on Saturday, May 8th and Sunday, May 9th.
