New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released its sixth spring weekly report on Tuesday, April 27th, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics.

Outdoor Track Update - Skyline Championship Release

The Farmingdale State men's and women's outdoor track & field teams hosted the Skyline Conference Championships on Sunday. The women were crowned champions after recording 194 points, beating second place Mount Saint Mary who tallied 182 points. The men placed third with 142 points.

Freshman Alycia Haynes (Adams Center, N.Y.) was named both the Skyline Conference Track Athlete of the Year and Rookie of the Year as she earned a meet-high 37 points. FSC Head Coach Daniela Georgieva earned women's Coach of the Year following a vote by her peers.

The track & field teams will next compete at the NJAC Championships on Saturday, May 8th and Sunday, May 9th.

Men's Golf Update Skyline Full Report

The Rams competed at the St. Joseph's-Long Island Invitational held at Bellport Country Club last week and earned a 13-shot victory.

Freshman Kyle Zere (Ronkonkomna, N.Y.) was named to the honor roll after posting a 77 to lead Farmingdale State.

FSC is currently hosting the Skyline Conference Championship at the Bethpage State Park - Red Course. In Monday's opening round, the Rams shot a team total of 298 and are 39 shots ahead of second place Mount Saint Mary (337). The winner of the championship will be declared following Friday's final round.

The winner earns the conference's automatic bid into the 2021 NCAA Division III Championship at the Oglebay Resort and Conference Center in Wheeling, WV on May 11-14.

Women's Lacrosse Update (6-0, 6-0 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

The women's lacrosse team defeated Manhattanville, 19-8, in their final regular season game.

Senior attack Courtney Gendels (Wantagh, N.Y.) was named Skyline Conference Offensive Player of the Week. Gendels posted a game-high 10 points on eight goals and two assists against the Valiants. Her eight goals ranks second all-time for a single game and the two man-down scores tied the school record.

Sophomore goalkeeper Ashley Perrini (Holbrook, N.Y.) earned a spot on the honor roll after stopping a season-high 13 shots and back-stopping a Rams defense that limited the Valiants to a 1-for-16 conversion rate on free-positions.

FSC finished the regular season with a perfect 6-0 record and clinched home field advantage throughout the Skyline Playoffs. The top-seeded Rams will host the Conference Semifinals against #4 Manhattanville on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. 

 

Men's Lacrosse Update (5-1, 5-1 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

Farmingdale State captured a 20-3 win over Mount Saint Vincent last week.

Senior attack Terrence Haggerty (Centerport, N.Y.) was tabbed the Offensive Player of the Week, while freshman attack Thomas Stock (Selden, N.Y.) earned Rookie of the Week honors. Haggerty scored five goals and one assist and Stock had two goals, dished out three assists and scooped up seven ground balls in the victory over Mount Saint Vincent.

Freshman midfielder Antonio Kaminskey (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) was named to the honor roll as he won 14-of-18 faceoffs (.778) while picking up 12 ground balls against the Dolphins.

After earning a 17-7 win over Merchant Marine last night, Farmingdale State will close out their regular season schedule with a Skyline Conference game against Manhattanville on Friday at 4:00 p.m.

 

Softball Update (9-3, 9-2 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

The softball team cruised to three straight wins over Purchase last week to improve to 9-2 in Skyline play. 

FSC freshman third baseman Brooke Walker (Westhampton, N.Y.) earned her first career Player of the Week honors as she hit 8-for-11 (.727) in the three-game sweep, including a 1.455 slugging percentage. She posted multi-hit games in all three outings, totaling five doubles, one homer, seven runs scored and six RBI.

Sophomore Christina Loeffler (East Meadow, N.Y.) was named the Skyline Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season. Loeffler tossed a five-inning no-hitter in Saturday's nightcap against Purchase, striking out eight while one hitter reached on an error.

This week the Rams will play Mount Saint Mary in a four-game series. Farmingdale State hosts the Knights for a doubleheader on Friday at 5:00 p.m. before heading to Newburgh, N.Y. for two games on Sunday at noon.

 

Women's Tennis Update (4-1, 4-1 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report 

The women's tennis team won two matches last week against Purchase, 9-0, and Mount Saint Mary, 6-3.

For the second time in the last three weeks, freshman Anastasia Hoffman (North Massapequa, N.Y.) captured Player of the Week honors. Hoffman went undefeated in a pair of No. 1 singles and doubles flights against the Panthers and Knights.

The Rams defeated Yeshiva, 8-1, on Monday, to improve to 4-1 on the year and will next play Manhattanville in their regular season finale on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

 

Baseball Update (11-8, 10-5 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

The Farmingdale State baseball team took three out of four games against Old Westbury last week and improved to 10-5 in conference play.

Senior pitcher Joe Marino (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) earned a spot on the honor roll after allowing just two earned runs and a .205 batting average against with 13 strike outs in 11.1 innings.

This week FSC closes out the regular season with four games against Merchant Marine. The Rams host the Mariners on Saturday at noon and travels to USMMA on Sunday at noon.

 

Men's Tennis Update (2-1, 2-1 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report 

In their only match last week, the men's tennis team fell to Manhattanville, 7-2.

Sophomore Mark Baker (North Baldwin, N.Y.) notched a spot on the honor roll with a 6-4, 6-0 victory in the #2 singles match.

Farmingdale State will close their regular season with two games this week. The Rams head to Merchant Marine on Saturday at noon before returning home for a match against Yeshiva on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
