FSC Athletics Spring Update #4

New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released its fourth spring weekly report on Tuesday, April 13th, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics.

Women's Lacrosse Update (4-0, 4-0 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

FSC earned a 19-3 victory over Mount Saint Mary last week to improve to 4-0 on the season.

Junior Deanna Iannotta (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) was named Skyline Conference Offensive Player of the Week, while freshman defender Marina Zumbrunn (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) earned Skyline Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors. Iannotta set career-highs with three goals, six assists, nine points and five ground balls and Zumbrunn led the Rams' defense in a with a game- and career-high four caused turnovers in the win over MSMC.

This week, Farmingdale State will play host to Maritime on Friday at 6:00 p.m.

 

Men's Tennis Update (1-0, 1-0 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report 

The Rams kicked off the 2021 season with a 9-0 home win over St. Joseph's-LI. 

Senior Zachary Baker (Carmel, N.Y.) was tabbed the Skyline Player of the Week after posting a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles and teaming with Ethan Cintron (Oakland Gardens, N.Y.) for an 8-1 decision at the top doubles flight.

The Rams will next host Sarah Lawrence for a match on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. 

 

Women's Tennis Update (0-1, 0-1 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report 

The women's tennis team opened their season with a home match versus St. Joseph's-LI on Saturday and fell, 6-3.

Freshman Anastasia Hoffman (North Massapequa, N.Y.) was named the Skyline Conference Player of the Week. The 2019 Skyline Rookie of the Year kicked off her spring campaign with an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles with Shari Jackson (Copiague, N.Y.) before earning a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 2 singles versus the Golden Eagles.

This week, Farmingdale State will travel to Sarah Lawrence for a Skyline match on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

 

Men's Golf Update Skyline Full Report 

The Rams hosted and won the FSC Skyline Invitational last week.

Freshman Chris Iguchi (Centereach, N.Y.) earned medalist honors as he was named the Conference Player of the Week, shooting a plus-3 round of 73 on the Bethpage State Park Red Course. Freshman Brad Castaldy (Dix Hills, N.Y.) earned Rookie of the Week as he shot 81 in his first collegiate round, tying for fourth-place on the day.

The Rams will head to Eisenhower Park this week to compete in the Old Westbury Skyline Invitational on Friday.

 

Men's Lacrosse Update (3-0, 3-0 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report 

The FSC men's lacrosse team improved to 3-0 with a 14-3 victory over Mount Saint Mary last week. The Rams have now won nine consecutive games dating back to last season.

Freshman attack Thomas Stock (Selden, N.Y.) was named the Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week. Stock registered his first-career hat trick while adding two assists and four ground balls in the 14-3 win. Senior attack Terrence Haggerty (Centerport, N.Y.), who collected four goals and two assists, and freshman goalie Kevin Loonie (Lynbrook, N.Y.), who stopped 10 shots while allowing just two goals in the opening half of play on Friday, were both named to the Honor Roll.

Farmingdale State will head on the road this week as they travel to play Maritime on Saturday at noon.

 

Baseball Update (8-3, 8-1 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report 

The baseball team swept St. Joseph's-Brooklyn in a doubleheader on Saturday before Sunday's games were postponed due to weather. 

Freshman catcher Aidan Hutchins (Wading River, N.Y.) was named the Skyline Rookie of the Week. Hutchins batted a team-high .833 and held a .900 on-base percentage in the DH sweep. Freshman first baseman Jordan Lambert (Plainview, N.Y.) earned a spot on the honor roll after hitting .625 with four doubles in the two games.

This week the Rams will host St. Joseph's-Long Island for a doubleheader on Saturday at noon before heading to the Golden Eagles on Sunday at 11:00 a.m.

 

Softball Update (6-3, 6-2 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report 

The Farmingdale State softball team picked up a pair of wins over St. Joseph's-Long Island on Saturday to move into first place in the Skyline Conference. 

Sophomore pitcher Allie Stanya (Babylon, N.Y.) and senior first baseman Jessica Lombardo (Levittown, N.Y.) were both named to the honor roll. Stanya earned a pair of complete-game victories, striking out 18 Golden Eagles in 12 innings pitched, while Lombardo hit .500 in the twinbill with a double and three RBI.

FSC will next head to Purchase College for a Skyline doubleheader on Saturday, April 24th at noon.

 

Outdoor Track Update

The men's and women's outdoor track & field teams competed at the Merchant Marine Invitational last week.

Junior Danielle Losquadro (Bethpage, N.Y.) posted victories in both the 100m dash (13.80) and 200m dash (28.51), as well as running the anchor leg of FSC's winning 4x100m relay.

Freshman Joseph Stocken VI (Miller Place, N.Y.) earned victories at both the 110m high hurdles (17.85) and the 400m hurdles.

FSC next will host the Skyline Conference Championships on Sunday, April 25th.
