Tom Azzara was named the Director of Athletics in September of 2021. Previously he was promoted to Director of Athletics for Compliance and Operations in June 2016 after serving as the Associate Athletic Director since 1997. Azzara has been at Farmingdale State since 1992 and prior to serving as the Associate AD, he was the Sports Information Director and also worked in the Department of Communications at the College. Tom also served as the Head Golf Coach at Farmingdale State from 2001-16.
In his 15 years as the Head Golf Coach, Azzara led the Rams to eight Skyline Championships ('06, '08, '09, '10, '11, '12, '13, '14) and eight NCAA Tournament appearances. In 2010, Farmingdale State finished in 20th place and made the cut as a team for the first time in school history. Coach Azzara has been named the Skyline Conference Coach of the Year seven times (2006-07, 2008-09, 2009-10, 2010-11, 2011-12, 2012-13, 2015-16).
Azzara received his Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education from Cortland State and his Master's Degree in Professional Studies (Athletic Administration Concentration) from Stony Brook University.
