The baseball team finished with a 19-19 record under first year head coach Keith Osik, making their first-ever appearance in the ECAC's. Junior Nick Barone was named First Team All-Skyline after leading the team offensively in runs (32), extra-base hits (18), RBI’s (31), total bases (70), slugging percentage (.619) and stolen bases (14). Freshman Tom Heeman was named Second Team All-Skyline and finished third on the team in batting average (.339). Heeman played in 7 positions throughout the year and is ranked nationally as one of the toughest to strikeout with just 3 strikeouts in a team-high 121 at-bats. Sophomore utility player Keith King was also named Second Team All-Skyline, after leading the team with a .484 on-base percentage and a team-high 21 walks...

NEWARK, NJ – Seniors Dave Sica (Lyndhurst, NJ/Lyndhurst HS), Mike Marcucci (Whitehouse Station, NY/Immaculata) and freshman rightfielder Brian Gill (Manasquan, NJ/Wall) had three hits apiece to lead a 19-hit Rutgers-Newark attack as the Scarlet Raiders defeated Farmingdale State, 16-6, to advance to Sunday’s title game of the ECAC Division III Metro Baseball Championship against John Jay, an 11-7 winner over Manhattanville. Senior reliever James Cariello (Springfield, NJ/Jonathan Dayton) picked up the win in relief of junior lefthander Tom Reynolds (Garfield, NJ/Garfield) for Rutgers. The Skyline Conference released the 2006 All-Conference Baseball teams on Friday, May 5th. The Skyline chooses two All-Conference teams, along with a Player, Pitcher and Rookie of the Year, as well as Coaching Staff of the Year and a Sportsmanship Award. Farmingdale State University junior outfielder Nick Barone (North Babylon, NY/North Babylon) was named Skyline Player of the Week for baseball on Monday, May 1st. Barone batted an impressive .542 with 13 hits in 24 at-bats to lead the Rams in a 4-2 week. Barone had four doubles, a triple, a home run, nine runs scored and 10 runs batted in, all against Skyline opponents. He went 6-for-9 against Manhattanville, 4-for-7 against Stevens and 3-for-8 against Mount Saint Mary. Barone accounted for more than half of Farmingdale’s runs by either driving them in or crossing the plate himself. Purchase, NY - The Farmingdale State baseball team came home on Wednesday afternoon with a victory under their belts to improve to 16-17, 9-5 in the Skyline after defeating Manhattanville (16-16, 9-5) in game two of a conference doubleheader. The Rams had 17 hits in the outing, including four doubles, and just missed tying a season-high 18 hits in a game. Farmingdale State University freshman first basemen Michael Labrozzi (Sag Harbor, NY/Pierson) was named Skyline Rookie of the Week for baseball on Monday, April 17th. Labrozzi batted .556 (5-for-9) in four games for the Rams. Labrozzi batted .500 in two conference games against St. Joseph’s. In a doubleheader sweep of Baruch, he was 3-for-5 with a double, three runs scored and three runs batted in. Labrozzi also had a .636 on-base percentage for the week.
