Union, N.J. – Kean University's Brandon Aich (South Amboy, N.J.) struck out five and allowed two hits in six innings of work, while Mike Shymanski (Edison, N.J) went 2-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBI as the Cougars defeated Farmingdale State University, 14-4 this afternoon in collegiate baseball action at Jim Hynes Stadium. The Cougars improved to 14-5 overall, while the Rams fell to 8-13.

With the game tied at 1-1 after three innings of play, the Cougars broke open the game scoring 12 runs over the next three innings. In the fourth inning, Mark Blevins (Edison, N.J.) drove in a pair of runs and Derek Gianakas (Edison, N.J.) added an RBI single. In the fifth inning, following an intentional walk to Shymanski to load the bases, Perry Schatzow (Ocean, N.J.) delivered the big hit with a single to plate two runs.

Overall, Blevins was 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run scored, while Jason Luis (Pemberton, N.J.) went 2-for-2 with two RBI. Ryan Clark (Livingston, N.J.) had one hit and two runs scored and Aaron Richard (Plainfield, N.J.) had two hits two runs scored and one RBI. Freshman righty, Aich improved to 2-0 this season as he lowered his ERA to 1.42.

For the Rams, Jeremy Small (Levittown, N.Y.) was 3-for-4 with one run scored and Wills Paulino (Bronx, N.Y.) drove pair of runs. On the mound, John Basquez (Sunnyside, N.Y.) picked up the loss in his first appearance of the year as he allowed seven runs (4 earned) and nine hits in 4.1 innings of work.
