EASTON, Pa. | Led by a school-record 66 (minus-5) Sunday afternoon from junior Chris Iguchi (Centereach, N.Y.), the Farmingdale State College golf team placed second at this weekend's (Oct. 15-16) 36-hole, The Melee event at Riverview Country Club (par 71; 6,470 yards) with a score of 594 (plus-26).

The Rams finished three shots off the lead, as Swarthmore College won the competition with a plus-23 score of 591 on the weekend.

After the FSC school records of 68 (lowest score) and minus-4 (lowest in relation to par) were tied twice thus far in the fall by juniors Mackenzie Kim (E. Quogue, N.Y.) and Brad Castaldy (Dix Hills, N.Y.) on Sept. 12 and Oct. 2, respectively, Iguchi shattered both marks Sunday after recording three birdies on the front nine (3rd, 5th and 7th holes), and on two of the last three holes, to take sole possession of both records on the Rams leaderboard. The 66 was also the lowest round of the event by three strokes.

Iguchi finished plus-1 (143) on the weekend, tying for second place and just one stroke off the pace set by medalist Jacob Haberstumpf of Moravian. Farmingdale State junior Liam Miller (Ronkonoma, N.Y.) finished the weekend at 150 (plus-8) after a first-round-best of 71 on Saturday, while Kim carded a plus-10 152, finishing in a 16th-place tie after consistent rounds of 76 on both days. Castaldy rounded out the Rams' scoring quartet with a plus-12 score of 154.

Head coach Ryan Williams will next lead his side in Friday's Farmingdale State Skyline Invitational at Bethpage State Park's red course, before competing in the Oct. 23-24, 36-hole 2022 Skyline Conference Golf Championship on the same track.
