Farmingdale State Drops Road Match at Brooklyn

Brooklyn, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's volleyball team traveled to Brooklyn College on Thursday evening and lost in four sets, 3-1. 

The Bulldogs (6-4) kept a steady pace in the first set, jumping in front 15-9 en route to the first set win.

Brooklyn led 6-3 in the second before capturing six unanswered points to go in front, 12-3. They took the set by a score of 25-21.

FSC (1-5) held a two-point advantage, 14-12, in the third set and scored eight straight points, behind serves from senior libero Madisyn Pozo (Bayside, N.Y.), to take a 10-point lead. The Rams won the third set by a score of 25-17, but were upended in the fourth, 25-22, as the Bulldogs won the match, 3-1.

Senior outside hitter Cathleen Farrell (Bayport, N.Y.) registered a team-best 12.5 points on 10 kills, two service aces and an assisted block. Sophomore middle blocker Mikayla Profeta (Knoxville, TN) tallied 12 points on nine kills, two aces and two block assists. Junior middle Kalena Ricketts (Cambria Heights, N.Y.) recorded seven kills, three blocks, three digs and two service aces, while junior outside Madeline Stanley (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) had three kills and three digs.

Pozo tallied a match-high 19 digs and senior setter Lexi Cavalieri (Lake Grove, N.Y.) added 12 assists for the Rams in defeat.

Sophomore outside Tessa Winkleman (Grand Haven, MI) led the Bulldogs with a match-high 16 kills.

FSC next will compete at the Stevens Institute of Technology Red & Gray Invitational on Saturday, September 24th. Farmingdale State will play the hosts starting at 10:00 a.m., before taking on Manhattanville in a non-conference match at noon.
