Women's Tennis Downs Sarah Lawrence, Wins Third Straight

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. | A sweep of doubles play and straight-set victories at the Nos. 5 and 6 singles flights sent the Farmingdale State College women's tennis team to its third-consecutive win Tuesday night, as the Rams (8-4, 4-0) remained undefeated in Skyline Conference play with a 7-2 triumph at Sarah Lawrence College.

In doubles play, the No. 3 flight tandem of seniors Mia Murrell (Shirley, N.Y.) and Susana Pariona (Farmingdale, N.Y.) swept past Bella Biane and Chloe Cohen of the Gryphons (1-4, 0-2) by an 8-0 score. Sophomore Lien Collings (Merrick, N.Y.) and freshman MacKenzie Gisler (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) tok down Carrie Sun and Ellie O'Brian at No. 2, 8-1, before the top-flight duo of senior Anastasia Hoffman (Massapequa, N.Y.) and freshman Amanda Jones (Mastic Beach, N.Y.) used a 7-2 score in a tiebreaker to defeat SLC's Simi Rao and Isabella Hardman by an 8-7 count.

Freshman Heather McGullam (Hauppauge, N.Y.) won her No. 5 singles match over Melody Valenza, 6-1 and 6-0, while classmate Mikayla DeMaria (W. Babylon, N.Y.) swept by Catherine Whitman at the No. 6 flight by identical 6-0 scores to clinch the match for FSC. Gisler won at No. 4 against Biane, 8-1, while Collings knocked off Hardman at the No. 2 flight by an 8-5 margin.

Head coach Adam Waterhouse's Farmingdale State side is back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 19, when it plays host to Skyline foe Mount Saint Mary College in a 4:30 p.m. first serve.
