Women's Tennis Posts Resounding 9-0 Victory at Brooklyn

BROOKLYN, N.Y. | After giving up just five games across its three doubles matches, the Farmingdale State College women's tennis team surrendered just 13 games across its six straight-set victories in singles play Thursday night, as the visiting Rams moved to 5-3 on the year with a 9-0 victory at Brooklyn College.

FSC picked up all three doubles points against the host Bulldogs (0-5), with the freshmen tandem of Amanda Jones (Mastic Beach, N.Y.) and MacKenzie Gisler (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) sweeping its No. 2 flight match versus Saoirse Ebert and Allison Dubrow by an 8-0 score. The top-flight duo of senior Anastasia Hoffman (Massapequa, N.Y.) and sophomore Lien Collings (Merrick, N.Y.) turned aside Brooklyn's Monica Prado Capon and Veronika Tsiko, 8-2, while freshmen Heather McGullam (Hauppauge, N.Y.) and Mikayla DeMaria (W. Babylon, N.Y.) collecting an 8-3 decision at No. 3 against Rebecca Finney and Sophia Kebadze.

McGullam (vs. Finney) and DeMaria (vs. Marah Mustafa) won 6-0, 6-0 in their Nos. 5 and 6 singles matches, respectively, while Jones gave up just one first-set point in her No. 3-flight victory against Dubrow. Gisler bested Ebert at No. 4 by identical 6-1 scores, while Hoffman (vs. Prado Capon, by identical 6-2 scores) and Collings (6-2, 6-4 vs. Tsiko) registered victories in the top-two flights to complete the shutout.

Head coach Adam Waterhouse's Farmingdale State side is back in Skyline Conference action Saturday morning (Oct. 1), when it travels to Purchase (N.Y.) College for an 11 a.m. first serve.
