Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's tennis team hosted SUNY Oneonta for a non-conference match this afternoon and lost, 8-1.
The Red Dragons (3-2) captured all three doubles matches as they took a 3-0 advantage heading into singles competition.
The Rams (4-3) lone point came at #1 singles as senior Anastasia Hoffman (Massapequa, N.Y.) earned a 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (10-7) super tie-break victory over Oneonta's Julia Holtermann (Staten Island, N.Y.).
At second singles, FSC sophomore Lien Collings (Merrick, N.Y.) was edged out by junior Sophia Schutte (Great Neck, N.Y.), 6-1, 7-5.
Oneonta senior Maxie Karen (New York, N.Y.) won 6-1, 6-1 at third singles, while Brianna Shaw (Staten Island, N.Y.) cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 victory in the fourth slot.
Farmingdale State freshman Heather McGullam (Hauppauge, N.Y.) was upended at #5 singles to Jessica Harris (Cobleskill, N.Y.), 6-1, 6-0.
At sixth singles, senior Mia Murrell (Shirley, N.Y.) fell to freshman Danielle Copp (Marcellus, N.Y.), 6-4, 6-1.
The women's tennis team next travels to Brooklyn College for a non-conference match on Thursday, September 29th at 4:00 p.m.
