FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | Farmingdale State College freshmen MacKenzie Gisler (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) and Heather McGullam (Hauppauge, N.Y.) picked up two wins apiece Thursday afternoon, helping the Rams' women's tennis team to their third-consecutive victory with a 5-4 win over visiting Baruch College.

FSC (3-1) earned points with wins in the Nos. 2 and 3 doubles flights, as well as in the fourth-through-sixth singles competitions to knock off the Bearcats (1-1).

In doubles play, Gisler and classmate Amanda Jones (Mastic Beach, N.Y.) combined at the No. 2 slot to tie the team match at 1-all with an 8-3 against Regina Kelley and Erica Sheludenko. Farmingdale State then moved into singles play up 2-1 when McGullam and senior Susana Pariona (Farmingdale, N.Y.) won their No. 3-flight match versus Keila Pagan and Alejandra Cardenas by an 8-7 count -- including a 7-4 margin in the tiebreaker.

The tiebreaker result proved crucial, as the two teams split the six singles matches. McGullam bested Pagan by scores of 6-3 and 6-1 at the No. 5 flight, while senior Mia Murrell (Shirley, N.Y.) won at No. 6 against Cardenas, 6-1 and 7-5. Gisler and Shelundenko traded set victories of 6-4 in the first two sets of their No. 4 match, with Gisler earning FSC the team victory by winning the third and final set by the exact same margin.

Head coach Adam Waterhouse's Rams are back in non-conference play Saturday, when they welcome Hunter College to Farmingdale for a noon first serve.
