FSC Women's Tennis Defeats Yeshiva in Skyline Opener

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's tennis team hosted Skyline Conference opponent Yeshiva this evening and earned an 8-1 victory.

The Rams (1-1, 1-0 Skyline) swept all three doubles matches as the #1 pairing of senior Anastasia Hoffman (Massapequa, N.Y.) and sophomore Lien Collings (Merrick, N.Y.) cruised to an 8-2 decision, before the second pairing of freshmen Amanda Jones (Mastic Beach, N.Y.) and MacKenzie Gisler (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) earned an 8-5 win.

At third doubles, senior Mia Murrell (Shirley, N.Y.) and freshman Mikayla DeMaria (West Babylon, N.Y.) won 8-7 (7-4) in a tiebreaker over YU's (0-1) Sarah Leiderman and Sarah Grunseid.

FSC rolled through singles play as Hoffman (6-1, 6-1), Collings (6-3, 6-2), Jones (6-1, 6-0), Gisler (6-3, 6-0) and freshman Heather McGullam (Hauppauge, N.Y.) (7-5, 6-2) picked up victories in the first through fifth slots, respectively.

Leiderman captured the Maccabees lone point in a tiebreaking 6-1, 3-6, 1-0 (10-6) win in the #6 singles match.

Farmingdale State next will travel to Lehman College for a non-conference match on Saturday, September 10th at noon.
