#1 Farmingdale State - 8, #4 Sarah Lawrence - 1
Farmingdale, N.Y. - In the semifinals of the Skyline Conference Women's Soccer Championship this afternoon, top-seeded Farmingdale State hosted #4 Sarah Lawrence and won, 8-1. The Rams improved to 16-3-2 overall and have advanced to the conference finals for the 12th straight season.
FSC got on the board early as sophomore midfielder Meagan Murdocco (North Babylon, N.Y.) scored just 55 seconds into the game off the feed from sophomore midfielders Brittney Starzee (Babylon, N.Y.) and Cailyn Demarinis (Deer Park, N.Y.).
Murdocco tallied her second score in the 12th minute of action to put the Rams ahead 2-0 before senior midfielder Allison Khare (Deer Park, N.Y.) recorded an unassisted goal to give Farmingdale State a three-goal advantage. With 4:35 left on the clock, FSC's Edasia Martinez (Brentwood, N.Y.) sent a cross in front to set up sophomore midfielder Alexandra Johnson (Commack, N.Y.) for the final goal of the half and a 4-0 lead at the break. Farmingdale State held a 23-0 shot advantage in the first half.
The game remained 4-0 until midway through the second half when Khare scored off the pass from junior defender Brenda Vargas (Brentwood, N.Y.). Only 1:36 later, senior midfielder Rae-Anne Guglielmo (West Babylon, N.Y.) connected on an unassisted goal to increase the lead to six. Farmingdale State added scores by both sophomore midfielder Kristen Shine (Manorville, N.Y.) and junior defender Frankie Wolf (Islip, N.Y.) in the victory.
The Gryphons' (9-8) only goal in the 8-1 loss was scored by freshman forward Tiffany McBrayer (Miami, Fla.) in the 76th minute.
FSC junior Daniella Ford (Elmont, N.Y.) recorded her school record 16th win in goal after playing 74:50 minutes.
#1 Farmingdale State will now host #2 Mount Saint Mary in the Skyline Finals on Saturday, November 3rd at 1:00 p.m. The winner will receive the conference's automatic bid into the 2018 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship.
