#22 Farmingdale State - 2, Mount Saint Mary - 1

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The 22nd ranked Farmingdale State women's soccer team clinched the #1 seed for the upcoming Skyline Conference Championship after defeating Mount Saint Mary College this evening, 2-1. Rams senior midfielder Alyssa Parrotta (Centereach, N.Y.) tallied both of FSC's goals in the win. Farmingdale State ends the regular season 15-3-2 and a perfect 9-0 in conference play.

The Rams threatened early as freshman forward Julissa Martinez (Brentwood, N.Y.) took a shot that was saved by MSMC sophomore goalkeeper Cassidy Rykowski (Sloatsburg, N.Y.). On the ensuing corner kick by FSC sophomore midfielder Meagan Murdocco (North Babylon, N.Y.), a header by junior midfielder Tara Lyons (Wantagh, N.Y.) hit the post before Cailyn Demarinis (Deer Park, N.Y.) sent a shot just high of the net.

Farmingdale State broke the scoreless tie in the 28th minute after sophomore midfielder Brittney Starzee (Babylon, N.Y.) set up Parrotta for a goal to the left side of the net.

Mount Saint Mary (12-5-1, 8-1 Skyline) tallied a pair of shots on goal over the remainder of the half but both were stopped by FSC junior goalkeeper Daniella Ford (Elmont, N.Y.) as the Rams headed into the break leading, 1-0.

Parrotta recorded her second goal of the game just 4:02 into the second half off the double assist from Demarinis and Murdocco.

Over the next 29:44, the Rams would tally seven shots on goal but Rykowski stopped each one to keep the game at 2-0.

With 2:03 left to play, Knights freshman forward Liz Ellsworth (Suffern, N.Y.) scored to cut the deficit to one but neither team would register another shot as FSC went on to win, 2-1.

Ford recorded three saves as she picked up her 15th win of the season, while Rykowski stopped eight shots in defeat.

Farmingdale State has earned a first round bye and next hosts the semifinals on Wednesday, October 31st.
