Rams Improve to 8-0 in Skyline with Win Over Mount Saint Vincent

Farmingdale State - 4, Mount Saint Vincent - 1


Riverdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's soccer team traveled to the College of Mount Saint Vincent on Monday afternoon and earned a 4-1 Skyline Conference victory. With the win, FSC improved to 14-3-2 overall and a perfect 8-0 in the conference, while the Dolphins dropped to 4-9-1, 3-5.

The Rams opened the scoring just 48 seconds in as sophomore midfielder Meagan Murdocco (North Babylon, N.Y.) tallied an unassisted goal.

At 22:44, FSC extended their lead to 2-0 on another goal from Murdocco off the assist from both senior defender Annamaria Merante (Holtsville, N.Y.) and senior midfielder Allison Khare (Deer Park, N.Y.). 

Neither team would score over the remaining 22:16 of the first half as Farmingdale State led 2-0 at the break. FSC outshot the Dolphins 16-0 and held an 8-0 corner kick advantage.

With 19:56 on the clock, Mount Saint Vincent cut the deficit to 2-1 on a penalty kick goal by junior forward Amy Cohen (Blauvelt, N.Y.).

FSC regained a two-goal advantage with only 3:50 left in the contest after junior midfielder Tara Lyons (Wantagh, N.Y.) set up senior midfielder Alyssa Parrotta (Centereach, N.Y.) for a goal.

Lyons would add Farmingdale State's final goal just 2:24 later as the Rams went on to win, 4-1.

Murdocco tallied four points on the day, while Lyons had three points on a goal and an assist.

FSC next hosts Skyline Conference opponent Mount Saint Mary College on Wednesday, October 24th at 5:00 p.m.
