Khare Leads Rams Past St. Joe's-LI in OT

Patchogue, N.Y. - With 2:18 remaining in overtime, Farmingdale State senior midfielder Allison Khare (Deer Park, N.Y.) scored off the corner kick from sophomore midfielder Meagan Murdocco (North Babylon, N.Y.) to lead the women's soccer team past St. Joseph's-Long Island, 2-1, this afternoon. With the win, FSC improved to 12-3-1 and 6-0 in conference play, while the Golden Eagles fell to 5-6, 3-2.

SJC-LI opened the scoring early as junior forward Christina Gagliardi (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) scored off the feed from freshman midfielder Gianna Castilletti (Oakdale, N.Y.) just 12:18 into the game.

At 36:22, the Rams were able to tie the score as Khare sent a ball into the middle of the box for junior midfielder Tara Lyons (Wantagh, N.Y.) to head it into the net and knot the game a 1-1.

Farmingdale State threatened with four straight shots to end the half but were unable to score as the game remained 1-1 at the break.

In a scoreless second half, FSC outshot St. Joe's-L.I., 13-4, and Golden Eagles junior goalkeeper Julianna Cintron-Leonardo (Riverhead, N.Y.) made seven saves as the game went into overtime.

With only 2:18 left to play in the first OT, Khare's header off the corner kick gave the Rams the 2-1 road victory.

Khare tallied a season-high three points on a goal and an assist.

Farmingdale State held a 29-4 shot advantage and 11-0 corner kick advantage for the game.

FSC next hosts non-conference opponent NYU on Thursday, October 18th at 7:00 p.m.
