Women's Soccer Defeats Maritime; Improves to 5-0 in Conference Play

Throggs Neck, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's soccer team defeated SUNY Maritime, 6-0, on Wednesday evening in Throggs Neck, N.Y. to improve to a perfect 5-0 in Skyline Conference play this season. The Rams are now 11-3-1 overall, while the Privateers stand at 2-8, 1-4.

FSC opened the scoring in the 10th minute as sophomore midfielder Molly Dowd (Bay Shore, N.Y.) netted the pass from senior midfielder Alyssa Parrotta (Centereach, N.Y.). Just under 15 minutes later, the Rams went up 2-0 on a goal by junior midfielder Edasia Martinez (Brentwood, N.Y.) off the feed from junior midfielder Tara Lyons (Wantagh, N.Y.). 

Farmingdale State would register four shots on goal over the remainder of the half but were unable to score as they headed into the break leading 2-0. 

At 53:47, FSC would extend their advantage as a Lyons through-ball allowed Parrotta to score and put the Rams ahead, 3-0. Only 3:44 later, Farmingdale State would go in front 4-0 on an unassisted goal by Martinez. The Rams would add a pair of goals late from Lyons and junior defender Jackie Haft (Smithtown, N.Y.) to earn the 6-0 conference victory.

Lyons (1g, 2a) and Martinez (2g) each finished with four points, while Parrotta tallied three points on a goal and an assist. FSC outshot the Privateers 38-1 in the game.

Maritime senior goalkeeper Cammie Havens (Point Pleasant, N.J.) recorded 14 saves in the loss.

The Rams next travels to St. Joseph's-Long Island for a Skyline game on Saturday, October 13th at noon.
