Parrotta's Late Score Leads FSC Past #19 Swarthmore

Farmingdale, N.Y. - With 2:28 left to play, Farmingdale State senior midfielder Alyssa Parrotta (Centereach, N.Y.) scored the game-winning goal from 10 yards out off the long cross in front by freshman Kayla Duvenhorst (Levittown, N.Y.) to lead the FSC women's soccer team past #19 Swarthmore, 1-0, this afternoon in Farmingdale, N.Y.

In a scoreless first half, Swarthmore (10-1-1) held a 13-3 shot advantage and a 1-0 corner kick over Farmingdale State (9-3-1). The Garnet had five shots on goal, all of which were saved by FSC junior goalkeeper Daniella Ford (Elmont, N.Y.).

The Garnet had taken eight second half shots, five of which were on goal, before Parrotta netted the game-winner for the Rams. Swarthmore's Marin McCoy (Denver, Colo.) took the final shot of the game with 1:09 remaining but Ford's save sealed the 1-0 victory for Farmingdale State.

Ford finished the afternoon with 10 saves, while senior Amy Shmoys (Ithaca, N.Y.) stopped one shot for Swarthmore.

The Rams next return to conference action when they host Yeshiva on Tuesday, October 9th at 4:00 p.m.
