FSC Rolls in Win at Purchase

Purchase, N.Y. - In a Skyline Conference game at Purchase last night, the FSC women's soccer team earned an 8-0 shutout win. The Rams now stand at 8-2-1 overall and 3-0 in Skyline play, while the Panthers fell to 1-6, 0-2.

Farmingdale State jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 7th minute on a Tara Lyons (Wantagh, N.Y.) goal off the touch pass from Jordan Martin (Lecanto, Fla.). Only 1:23 later, sophomore midfielder Meagan Murdocco (North Babylon, N.Y.) converted Lyons' through ball to increase the FSC advantage to two. After a goal by senior defender Annamaria Merante (Holtsville, N.Y.) in the 14th minute of action, freshman forward Julissa Martinez (Brentwood, N.Y.) followed with back-to-back scores to put the Rams out in front, 5-0. Farmingdale State took the 5-0 lead into the break after out shooting Purchase 14-0 in the first half.

FSC outscored the Panthers 3-0 in the second half as Murdocco, Martinez and freshman midfielder Kayla Duvenhorst (Levittown, N.Y.) each added goals. 

Martinez finished with a career-high seven points on three goals and one assist, while Lyons (1 G, 2 A) and Murdocco (2 G) each tallied four points.

The Rams next travel to #2 Williams College for a non-conference game on Saturday, October 6th at noon.
