Rams Shutout Old Westbury in Conference Opener

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's soccer team shutout Old Westbury, 8-0, in their Skyline Conference opener this afternoon. The Rams improved to 6-2-1 overall, while the Panthers dropped to 3-8, 1-2.

FSC opened the scoring just 1:48 into the game as sophomore midfielder Alexandra Johnson's (Commack, N.Y.) shot from 30 yards out bounced over the goalies head and into the net. 

Farmingdale State went ahead 2-0 in the 29th minute on a goal by freshman midfielder Kayla Duvenhorst (Levittown, N.Y.) off the pass from junior midfielder Edasia Martinez (Brentwood, N.Y.). The Rams used a goal by senior midfielder Allison Khare (Deer Park, N.Y.) from junior defender Jackie Haft (Smithtown, N.Y.) and a last-minute score by Duvenhorst to go up 4-0 heading into the break. Farmingdale State outshot OW 18-0 in the first half and held a 4-0 corner kick advantage.

In the second half, the Rams added scores by senior midfielder Rae-Anne Guglielmo (West Babylon, N.Y.), sophomore midfielder Brittney Starzee (Babylon, N.Y.) and freshman forward Julissa Martinez (Brentwood, N.Y.) to go along with an OW own goal en route to the 8-0 victory.

Farmingdale State held the Panthers without a shot attempt in the win.

The FSC women's soccer team next will travel to St. Joseph's-Brooklyn for a conference game on Monday, October 1st at 7:00 p.m.
