Danbury, Conn. - The Farmingdale State women's soccer team traveled to non-conference opponent Western Connecticut State on Wednesday evening and earned a 1-0 shutout victory. The Rams improved to 5-2-1, while the Colonials dropped to 2-5.

WestConn tallied the first high-quality scoring chance in the 22nd minute as a shot by senior midfielder Lucy Daniels (Bethel, Conn.) hit the post off of a corner kick. Only 6:32 later, another Colonials corner kick set up a shot for freshman forward Kaleigh Panek (Shelton, Conn.) but a save by FSC junior goalkeeper Daniella Ford (Elmont, N.Y.) kept the game scoreless.

At 33:52, Farmingdale State senior midfielder Allison Khare (Deer Park, N.Y.) scored the lone goal of the game off the cross in front from junior forward Medina Mulic (Ridgewood, N.Y.) to give the Rams a 1-0 advantage.

In a scoreless second half, FSC outshot the Colonials 11-6, while each team tallied a pair of corner kicks. Ford stopped all three shots on goal in the half and totaled six for the game.

WestConn sophomore goalkeeper Alexis Lainchbury (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) made eight saves in the loss.
