Farmingdale State Claims Skyline Conference Women's Soccer Championship

#2 Farmingdale State - 1, #1 Mount Saint Mary - 0


Newburgh, N.Y. - The second seeded Farmingdale State women's soccer team defeated #1 Mount Saint Mary College, 1-0, this afternoon in Newburgh, N.Y. to claim the Skyline Conference Championship for the 10th time in the last 11 seasons. The Rams have earned the conference's automatic bid to the 2017 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship.

FSC (13-7-2) controlled the game early, tallying three shots on goal in the first 10:20 of the contest.

At 14:39, Farmingdale State freshman forward Miranda Ozimek (Centerport, N.Y.) received a through pass from freshman midfielder Cailyn Demarinis (Deer Park, N.Y.) and shot it past Knights senior goalkeeper Mary Riley (Newburgh, N.Y.) to put the Rams ahead 1-0. 

Mount Saint Mary (15-4-2) only managed one shot in the first half.

Only 2:03 after the break, MSMC senior defender Destiny Ribadeneyra (Maybrook, N.Y.) recorded the Knights first shot on goal which was saved by FSC sophomore goalie Daniella Ford (Elmont, N.Y.).

Mount Saint Mary's final shot on goal came with 14:47 left on the clock, but Ford once again stopped Ribadeneyra to preserve the 1-0 victory.

Farmingdale State held a 6-0 corner kick advantage and outshot MSMC 11-4 in the game.

FSC junior midfielder Alyssa Parrotta (Centereach, N.Y.) was named the Championships Most Outstanding Player after her three-point performance in the Semifinals against Mount Saint Vincent.

The Rams now await word of their opponent for the NCAA First Round game which will be announced on Monday, November 6th at 1:00 p.m.

The First and Second Round games are scheduled for November 11th and 12th.
