Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's soccer team hosted #24 ranked Western Connecticut State for a non-conference game this evening and won, 1-0. FSC hands the Colonials their first loss of the season as they drop to 13-1-2, while the Rams improve to 10-5-2 overall.

In the 25th minute, a corner kick by Rams junior midfielder Allison Khare (Deer Park, N.Y.) led to a one-time shot and goal by senior forward Taylor Howard (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) to give FSC a 1-0 advantage.

In a defensive first half, the Colonials held a 3-2 shot advantage but were unable to find the net as Farmingdale State went into the break leading, 1-0.

With 10:48 remaining, a foul in the box set up Western Connecticut junior forward Allison Oakley (Beekman, N.Y.) with a penalty shot but a diving save by sophomore goalkeeper Daniella Ford (Elmont, N.Y.) kept FSC in front.

The final Colonials' shot attempt of the game was from senior midfielder Jenna Gentile (Norwalk, Conn.) with 54 seconds left, but another diving stop by Ford secured the victory and dealt Western Connecticut their first loss of the season.

The Rams next return to Skyline Conference action as they travel to play Sarah Lawrence College on Saturday, October 21st at 1:00 p.m.
