Rams Remain Perfect in Skyline With Win Over Purchase

Farmingdale State - 6, Purchase - 1


Farmingdale, N.Y. - In a Skyline Conference game this evening, the Farmingdale State women's soccer team defeated Purchase College, 6-1, to remain unbeaten in conference play this season. The Rams now stand at 6-4-2 overall and 4-0 in the conference, while the Panthers drop to 4-6, 2-2.

After an own goal put FSC up 1-0 just 2:18 into the game, junior midfielder Alyssa Parrotta's (Centereach, N.Y.) shot from the top of the box put the Rams ahead, 2-0.

Just over seven minutes later, Farmingdale State freshman midfielder Brittney Starzee (Babylon, N.Y.) scored off the feed from freshman forward Cristina Ferrara (Massapequa, N.Y.) to go up, 3-0.

FSC junior midfielder Rae-Anne Guglielmo (West Babylon, N.Y.) added a late goal in the first half to send the Rams into the break leading, 4-0.

After increasing the advantage to 5-1, the Rams scored on a header by sophomore midfielder Edasia Martinez (Brentwood, N.Y.) off the cross from freshman forward Miranda Ozimek (Centerport, N.Y.) to give FSC a five-goal lead, 6-1.

Neither team scored over the final 25:23 of the game as Farmingdale State earned the 6-1 conference victory.

FSC next travels to face Williams College in Massachusetts for a non-conference match on Saturday, October 7th at 11:30 a.m.
