Howard Records Hat Trick as Rams Blank St. Joe's-Brooklyn

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's soccer team defeated conference opponent St. Joseph's-Brooklyn, 7-0, this afternoon to improve to 3-0 in Skyline play and 5-4-2 overall. Senior forward Taylor Howard (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) scored once in the first half and twice in the second to record her first career hat trick.

FSC opened the scoring in the 17th minute on a shot from 30 yards out by sophomore defender Tara Lyons (Wantagh, N.Y.) off the pass by junior midfielder Allison Khare (Deer Park, N.Y.). The Rams took a 2-0 edge with 22:21 remaining in the first on a Howard score after being set up by Edasia Martinez (Brentwood, N.Y.). Farmingdale State took their 2-0 lead into the break after outshooting the Bears (5-4, 1-2) 26-0 in the half.

Only 1:13 after halftime, Howard tallied her second goal of the afternoon from 15 yards out as she netted the pass from Lyons. Less than three minutes later, FSC increased the advantage to 4-0 on a goal by freshman midfielder Cailyn Demarinis (Deer Park, N.Y.).

Over the final 36:29, the Rams added scores from Khare, Howard and freshman midfielder Brittney Starzee (Babylon, N.Y.) to cap off the 7-0 victory.

FSC held St. Joe's-Brooklyn without a shot in the victory.

Howard now has 34 career goals, moving to third place all-time at FSC and passed Corine Magee, who was recently inducted into the Farmingdale State Athletics Hall of Fame.

Farmingdale State next will host Purchase College in a Skyline Conference game on Thursday, October 5th at 7:00 p.m.
