Bronx, N.Y. - The FSC women's soccer team squared off against NYU in a non-conference game this evening held at Manhattan College and were defeated, 3-0.

Only 3:12 into the contest, NYU (4-2-1) used a score from sophomore forward Alex Benedict (Avon, Conn.) off the pass from Marquel Love (Gilroy, Calif.) to take an early 1-0 lead. Less than nine minutes later, in the 11th minute, the Violets extended the advantage to 2-0 as Love dribbled past the FSC (2-4-2) defense and netted an unassisted goal. Neither team would score during the remainder of the half as NYU took the 2-0 edge into the break. The Violets out shot the Rams 5-3 and held a 2-1 corner kick advantage in the first half.

With 30:28 left to play, NYU extended the advantage to 3-0 on a goal by senior forward Charlotte Herbertz (Krefeld, Germany) as freshman midfielder Tori Bianco (Omaha, NE) notched the assist. The game remained 3-0 the rest of the way as the Violets held FSC scoreless and capped off the shutout.

In goal, sophomore keeper Daniella Ford (Elmont, N.Y.) stopped six shots, while freshman Meghan Marhan (Glen Ridge, N.J.) had four saves for NYU.

The Rams next will play host to Mount Saint Vincent in a Skyline Conference game on Wednesday, September 27th at 4:00 p.m.
