FSC Forces Tie With #15 SUNY Geneseo

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's soccer team hosted #15 ranked SUNY Geneseo this afternoon for a non-conference match and forced a tie, 1-1. The Rams are now 2-3-2 on the season, while the Knights are 5-0-1.

In the third minute of the contest, FSC sophomore midfielder Edasia Martinez (Brentwood, N.Y.) scored on a cross in front by freshman forward Miranda Ozimek (Centerport, N.Y.) to give the Rams an early 1-0 advantage.

Farmingdale State held the one goal lead until the 53rd minute when Geneseo junior midfielder Jennifer Moran's (Henrietta, N.Y.) shot from 10 yards out tied the game, 1-1.

The Knights recorded two shots on goal over the remainder of regulation as the game went into overtime.

Geneseo senior forward Audrey Reid (Hilton, N.Y.) took the only two shots of the first overtime, but both were stopped by FSC sophomore goalie Daniella Ford (Elmont, N.Y.).

In the second OT, the Knights once again outshot Farmingdale State 2-0. Geneseo freshman midfielder Ellie Gregory (Commack, N.Y.) shot one that hit the post with just 1:30 remaining.

Ford finished with five saves, while Knights junior goalkeeper Emily Janiszewski (Buffalo, N.Y.) made three saves in the game.

FSC next travels to play New York University at Manhattan College on Saturday, September 23rd at 5:00 p.m.
