Early Score Holds as Rams Fall at RPI

Troy, N.Y. - At the final day of the Engineers Cup, host school RPI scored less that four minutes into the game as they dealt the Farmingdale State women's soccer team a 1-0 loss this afternoon in Troy, N.Y. The Rams now stand at 0-1-1 on the year, while RPI improved to 1-1.

Only 3:42 into the contest, RPI senior defender Bethany Hanson (Fullerton, CA) tallied an unassisted goal for the eventual game-winning score. The Engineers out shot the Rams 8-3 and held a 1-0 corner kick advantage in the first half.

Farmingdale State attempted three shots (two on goal) over the first 18:57 of the second half but were unable to convert. RPI held FSC without a shot the remainder of the game as they held on for 1-0 victory.

Senior goalkeeper Tori Riopelle (Ashburn, VA) recorded four saves for the Engineers, while sophomore Daniella Ford (Elmont, N.Y.) had seven saves in the loss for the Rams.

FSC next will travel to Trinity (Conn.) for a non-conference game on Wednesday, September 6th at 6:30 p.m.
