Indianapolis, Ind. - The NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Committee announced today the field of 64 teams for the 2016 Division III Women's Soccer Championship.
McDaniel College was selected as one of the NCAA's sixteen four-team host sites for First and Second Round games on November 12th & 13th. Farmingdale State (11-8-3) will square off against host school McDaniel on Saturday, November 12th at 11:00 a.m. The other First Round game, which will begin at 1:30 p.m., features the University of Scranton (17-1-1) and Connecticut College (10-5-1).
The Rams, who rank 10th in the East region, claimed their ninth Skyline Title in the last 10 seasons with a 2-0 home victory over Mount Saint Mary in the Conference Finals. Freshman defender Elizabeth Dasilva (Franklin Square, N.Y.) scored the game-winning goal and junior Taylor Howard (Massapequa Park, N.Y.), who was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Championship, tallied the second and final goal of the game.
McDaniel (16-2-1) joined the field of 64 via one of the 20 Pool C at-large bids after falling, 3-1, to Johns Hopkins in the Centennial Conference Championship game. The Green Terror are currently ranked 15th in the Nation and third in the Mid-Atlantic region.
Scranton, ranked 5th in the Mid-Atlantic region, enters the tournament on a 15-game winning streak and clinched a berth with a victory over Moravian in the Landmark Conference Championship game.
Connecticut College fell to Amherst in the NESCAC Finals but earned an at-large bid into the Tournament. Conn College is currently ranked 8th in the New England region.
The winners of the First Round games will meet in the Second Round on Sunday.
