Farmingdale State Wins Skyline Women's Soccer Championship

#1 Farmingdale State - 2, #2 Mount Saint Mary - 0


Farmingdale, N.Y. - For the ninth time in the last 10 seasons, the Farmingdale State women's soccer team has won the Skyline Conference Championship. The top-seeded Rams defeated #2 Mount Saint Mary, 2-0, and earned the conference's automatic bid to the 2016 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship.

Farmingdale State (11-8-3) broke the scoreless tie with 13:52 remaining when freshman defender Elizabeth Dasilva (Franklin Square, N.Y.) scored on a header off Casey Fackner's (North Babylon, N.Y.) free-kick. In the 87th minute, the Skyline Championships Most Outstanding Player Taylor Howard (Massapequa Park, N.Y.), kicked in a loose ball in front to put the Rams on top, 2-0. Mount Saint Mary (9-9) attempted one shot over the final 3:23 but were unable to score as FSC earned the 2-0 victory.

The Rams held the Knights to only one shot on goal which was saved by freshman goalkeeper Daniella Ford (Dix Hills, N.Y.).

The Rams now await word of their opponent for the NCAA First Round game which will be announced on Monday, November 7th at 1:30 p.m. Follow the release of the entire bracket at NCAA.com.
