Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State Rams women's soccer team hosted RPI (1-0), Western Connecticut (1-1) and Buffalo State (1-0) today in the 2016 Rams Classic.

In the first game of the day, Farmingdale State (0-2) fell 1-0 to RPI, while Buffalo State defeated Western Connecticut, 2-1, in game two.

RPI dominated the first half with a 6-1 shot advantage over the Rams. In the 26th minute, freshman forward Emily Kaplan (Smithtown, N.Y.) scored her first career goal on a deflection for a 1-0 Engineer lead.

In the second half, Farmingdale held a 4-2 shot advantage but could not find the back of the net as RPI took the eventual non-conference victory.

Rams freshman goalkeeper Daniela Ford (Elmont, N.Y.) posted six saves in defeat, while RPI freshman goalkeeper Joey Lyons (Harwood, Md.) made three saves for the win.

Buffalo State controlled game two over Western Connecticut, holding a 16-4 shot advantage.

After a scoreless first half, junior midfielder Victoria Colotti (New Windsor, N.Y.) sent home a pass from senior forward Melissa Smith (N. Tonawanda, N.Y.) with 20 minutes remaining. Smith then tallied her own score just 10 minutes later, assisted by freshman defender Kaylee Heschke (Appleton, N.Y.).

Western's junior midfielder Andrea Devoe (Farmington, Conn.) cut the deficit to 2-1 off a pass from senior midfielder Celia Devoe (Farmington, Conn.) with seven minutes on the clock, but a few more late chances could not tie it up and Buffalo ran away with the win.
