Rams Fall in Double OT at Season Opener

Western Connecticut - 1, Farmingdale State - 0 (2OT)


Danbury, Conn. - The Farmingdale State women's soccer team opened the season today at Western Connecticut, falling 1-0 in double overtime. Western's Andrea DeVoe (Farmington, Conn.) notched the deciding tally following a pass across the box to the left side from sophomore Lucy Daniels (Bethel, Conn.). 

In an evenly matched game, Western (1-0) edged the Rams offensively 4-3 on shots in the first half, while Farmingdale State held the second half shot advantage, 10-7. In the two overtime periods, Western posted five shots with their final shot coming in the 102nd minute of play.

Senior defender Alexandria Tudisco (Massapequa, N.Y.) had one of her team-leading shots at goal nick the crossbar for Farmingdale State.

Rams goalkeeper Daniela Ford (Elmont, N.Y.) suffered the loss after coming on for starter Karla Gomes (Carle Place, N.Y.) after 45 minutes of play. Ford made four saves while Gomes turned away one of Western's attempts.

The Rams (0-1) will return to play this weekend as they host the Rams Classic. Farmingdale State takes on RPI on Saturday, September 3 at 11:30am, before Western Connecticut plays Buffalo State in the 2:00 p.m. game. On Sunday, the Rams and Buffalo State will play at 10:00 a.m., while West Conn and RPI will play at Noon.
