Rams Clinch #1 Seed with Win Over Mount Saint Vincent

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's soccer team earned a 5-0 win over Mount Saint Vincent this afternoon and clinched the #1 overall seed for the upcoming Skyline Conference playoffs. The Rams now receive a first round bye and have home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

FSC struck first with 30:01 left in the half, as junior midfielder Ashley Guerrero (East Meadow, N.Y.) threaded a pass through the middle of the field to set up sophomore forward Taylor Howard (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) for the score.

Only 5:56 later, junior midfielder Alena Gannon* (North Babylon, N.Y.) converted on a penalty kick for the Rams to increase the lead to 2-0.

With 17:54 remaining in the first half, junior midfielder Amanda Khare (Deer Park, N.Y.) scored on a header off Melissa Lijo*'s (Flushing, N.Y.) corner kick to put Farmingdale State on top, 3-0. The pair converted the exact same play less than seven minutes later to extend the advantage to 4-0. FSC took their 4-0 lead into the halftime break

Midway through the second half, the fifth goal of the afternoon for the Rams came on a quick pass in front by Ashlee Thompson (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) as Guerrero converted to the right corner of the net.

Neither team scored the remainder of the contest as Farmingdale State earned the 5-0 conference victory.

Farmingdale State freshman goalkeeper Karla Gomes (Carle Place, N.Y.) played the first half and recorded two saves.

The Rams next will host the semifinals on Wednesday, November 4th.
