Gannon's Hat Trick Leads Rams in Conference Win

Yonkers, N.Y. - Farmingdale State junior midfielder Alena Gannon (North Babylon, N.Y.) scored her second career hat-trick and totaled a career-high eight points against Sarah Lawrence (3-8, 1-6) on Wednesday night. The Rams improved to 5-5-1 overall, 3-1 Skyline with the win.

Senior forward Ashlee Thompson (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) notched the opening goal in the 17th minute for Farmingdale State, sending home a cross from Gannon to make it 1-0. Gannon scored her first goal of the night just 12 minutes later for a 2-0 Rams lead, before freshman midfielder Rae-Anne Gugliemo (West Babylon, N.Y.) tallied her second goal of the season with 7:06 left in the first half.

In the second, Gannon increased the lead to 4-0 as she dribbled through the defense and scored her second of the night. She completed her hat trick in the 77th minute, off a crossed ball from Thompson. Thompson capped off the scoring, assisted by Gannon, with 12:32 left in regulation, en route to the 6-0 victory.

Farmingdale State will travel to face the top-ranked team in the nation, Messiah, on Saturday, October 10th in a non-conference game at 3:00 p.m.
