Rams Cruise Past Purchase in Skyline Conference Opener

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's soccer team earned a 7-0 Skyline Conference victory over Purchase College this afternoon. The Rams improved to 3-4-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play, while the Panthers fell to 1-7, 1-1.

Only 1:28 into the game, Farmingdale State junior midfielder Amanda Khare (Deer Park, N.Y.) scored off a cross in front by Ashley Guerrero (East Meadow, N.Y.) to put the Rams on top, 1-0.

Farmingdale State increased their advantage to 2-0 with 27:07 left on the clock on a breakaway shot to the left corner of the net by Guerrero. Less than two minutes later, sophomore forward Taylor Howard (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) scored off the throw in by Andrea Kiefer* (Centereach, N.Y) to open up a 3-0 lead.

With 7:06 remaining in the first half, FSC senior forward Ashlee Thompson (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) tallied her first goal of the game after being set up on the pass from Howard. The Rams held Purchase to only two first half shots as they took a 4-0 lead into the break.

Guerrero scored all three goals in the second half leading the Rams to a 7-0 victory.

FSC senior goalkeeper Breanna Blair (Littleton, Colo.) stopped two shots in 65 minutes of action.

The Rams next will travel to Mount Saint Mary for a Skyline Conference game on Sunday, September 27th at 1:00 p.m.
