Farmingdale, N.Y. - Farmingdale State junior forward Ashlee Thompson (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) scored two goals this afternoon to become the Rams' all-time career goal scorer with 39. Thompson passed Katrina Cerverizzo who previously held the record with 37 career goals.
Farmingdale State (11-4-3, 6-0-1) took an early 1-0 lead in the 7th minute as Thompson scored off the feed from senior midfielder Bethany Bianco (Babylon, N.Y.).
Only 1:20 after lighting delayed play in the first half, sophomore midfielder Ashley Appel (Bellmore, N.Y.) netted the pass from Thompson to increase the advantage to 2-0. Thompson scored her second goal of the contest in the 35th minute to give Farmingdale State a 3-0 lead at the halftime break.
With 19:40 left to play, sophomore forward Alena Gannon (North Babylon, N.Y.) scored off Thompson's pass to extend the Farmingdale State advantage to 4-0.
Old Westbury's (7-7-1, 1-5) Stephanie Maybie (Massapequa, N.Y.) added a pair of late goals to cut the deficit in half, but the Rams held on for the 4-2 victory.
Thompson finished the afternoon with a pair of goals and two assists for six points.
Junior goalkeeper Breanna Blair (Littleton, Colo.) stopped three shots and did not allow a goal for the Rams in 71 minutes of action.
The Rams next will host #1 Messiah in a non-conference game on Saturday, October 25th at 1:00 p.m.
