Thompson and Howard Notch Goals in Win over SJC

Patchogue, N.Y. - Junior forward Ashlee Thompson (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) and freshman forward Taylor Howard (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) notched goals last night for Farmingdale State (10-4-2, 5-0 Skyline), in a 3-1 women's soccer victory over conference opponent St. Joseph's (4-9-2, 1-4).

The Rams got on the board early with a successful shot from the top of the 18-meter by Thompson, the lone score of the first half. In the second, Howard made it 2-0 with a score assisted by sophomore forward Alena Gannon (North Babylon, N.Y.). Thompson headed in the third goal of the night in the 79th minute, giving Farmingdale State a 3-0 advantage.

Rams junior goalkeeper Breanna Blair (Littleton, Colo.) allowed just one goal and made seven saves, securing her teams 3-1 victory.

Farmingdale State will now host Mount Saint Mary College on Saturday, October 18th at 1:00 p.m. in a rematch of last years Skyline Championship game. Both teams currently hold undefeated records, with the Rams at 5-0 in conference play and the Knights at 4-0. The game will also serve as Senior Day for Farmingdale State.
