Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's soccer team defeated Sarah Lawrence, 8-0, in a Skyline Conference game this afternoon in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Rams improved to 8-3-2 overall and 3-0 in conference action after today's victory.

Farmingdale State took an early 1-0 lead in the 3rd minute as sophomore forward Alena Gannon (North Babylon, N.Y.) scored off the feed from Shannon Murphy (North Babylon, N.Y.).

Junior forward Ashlee Thompson (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.), sophomore midfielder Ashley Appel (Bellmore, N.Y.) and senior midfielder Sam Johrden (Deer Park, N.Y.) each added first half goals as Farmingdale State took a 4-0 advantage into halftime. Sarah Lawrence (2-7, 0-3) was held to zero shots in the first half.

In the second half, freshman forward Taylor Howard (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) scored back-to-back goals to put the Rams ahead 6-0 with 38:48 remaining. Junior midfielder Melissa Lijo* (Flushing, N.Y.) and sophomore midfielder Alexis Caracappa (Wantagh, N.Y.) each added second half goals en route to Farmingdale State's 8-0 conference victory.

Despite allowing eight goals, Sarah Lawrence sophomore goalkeeper Addie Rosenberg (New York, N.Y.) recorded 24 saves.

Farmingdale State next will travel to 10th-ranked TCNJ for a non-conference game on Thursday, October 9th at 7:30 p.m.
