Gannon Nets Three in Victory over Manhattanville

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's soccer team earned a 3-0 victory over Manhattanville as sophomore forward Alena Gannon (North Babylon, N.Y.) recorded her first career hat trick. The Rams improved to 7-3-2, while the Valients fell to 2-8 on the year.

In the 34th minute of action, Farmingdale State struck first as Gannon netted the cross in front from junior forward Ashlee Thompson (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.). Gannon added her second goal with 2:51 left in the half to give Farmingdale State a 2-0 advantage the break. The Rams took 14 shots and held Manhattanville to only one in the first half.

With 14:45 remaining in the game, Gannon completed the natural hat trick with an unassisted score to put Farmingdale State ahead, 3-0. Manhattanville was unable to score over the final minutes as the Rams capped off the shutout victory.

The Valiants were held to only one shot in the second half.

Manhattanville sophomore goalkeeper Dolores Diemicke (North Massapequa, N.Y.) recorded 16 saves in the loss.

The Rams next will travel to Purchase for a Skyline Conference game on Saturday, October 4th at noon.
